What a great camera! Don't listen to the naysayers - the kit lens is also very nice. You will not be disappointed straight out of the box.

To read your Sandisk Extreme Compact Flash and SD cards. It reall is worth the extra cash if you run Extreme or Ultra series cards.

Though not rated for a dSLR, this is a very handy tripod to have. I keep it in my vehicle at all times (it's very small when folded). In those times when I need some stabilization but don't want to carry a full-size tripod with me, this little guy does the trick. I never use it fully extended with the 40D though (it is not sturdy enough, i don't feel safe)

A great bag to carry all your gear. Protected with padding and an All Weather cover. Comfortable, even fully loaded. Quick access to your camera without having to take the back off. It also looks more like a backpack than a camera bag, and with no "CANON" label on it, it makes you less of a target then other bags.

Don't bother with the other flashes. You'll end up spending more to upgrade later, once you realize that the cheaper ones don't give you enough light or enough options.

Quick and solid, this is the best dSLR tripod head I've found. Very versatile with superb construction and the Bogen-Manfrotto warranty.

The best bang for the buck zoom available. This is the touted "L" series lens from canon - with superb sharpness at all settings. The f2.8 throughout the zoom range makes it worth the money hands down.
