This should be a good, everyday, walking around lens, and will serve as a nice replacement for the kit lens

This seemed like the cheapest UV Filter to fit the EF-S 17-85mm lens. Always good to have a filter to help protect the lens from accidental damage.

The UV filter is great for simple protection, but throw on the polorazing filter to reduce reflections from glass, water, etc... The 3rd warming filter is practically free.

This grip lets you use an extra battery for longer shoots. The Opteka grip is a better bargain, but some people have complained about the shutter on it. Stick with Canon and you won't run into weird issues.
