Buy new: $1,799.89 I do most of my work on a 24" iMac but I find it useful to get out of the house once in a while and do some work in Starbucks or Borders to fight the isolation blues. The MacBook is a great value for the money. If you're engaged in high-end video or graphics applications I recommend the MacBook Pro.

External hard drives are a must these days. Please backup your data! (Don't make me come over there!) Even the 500 GB models are extremely el cheapo. Time Machine in Leopard (Mac OS 10.5) makes your daily backup procedure both easy and cool. I've always found the Lacie externals to be very dependable and easy to use.

Buy new: $98.00 Please buy a USB printer for your business. They're truly 'plug and play'. Plus if you're running Windows on your Intel Mac, you won't have to do any extra configuring to print from your Windows applications.
The HP K5400 has worked very well for me. It's pretty speedy and documents look clean and crisp.

The Special 70th Anniversary edition contains the complete, unedited, original text (the book had been edited over the years). Note: the book was originally written in 1937 and contains some terms that are not politically correct in this era (but no major racial slurs).

Buy new: Too low to display You can hook this behemoth monitor up to your MacBook or MacBook Pro to have the best of both desktop and notebook worlds. It only takes a few moments to detach the notebook computer from the monitor. I really enjoyed the additional screen real estate that the 30" monitor provides - although it took some getting used to.
