2008 Camera of the Year! When I got a chance to shoot with a D300 at my local camera shop, I knew I had to get buy one ASAP; at $1,800 (USD) it's a great price too! I know the D3 ($5,000 USD) is the better DSLR, but not $3,200 better. The Nikon D300 is a super DSLR & perfect for all photography needs.

My 1st DSLR & know my back-up camera, to the D300. The D80 is a great DSLR for a student or beginning Photographer; and now that the D80 is selling for around $750 new, you can't go wrong!
The only con's I have w/ the D80 is only that is doesn't have a built in Image Sensor Cleaner. Other than that, I have no other issues w/ it.

Yes Nikon quit making this lens & came out w/ the 24-70mm & 28-70mm f/2.8 mid-range pro lenses; but it is not because of quality! It's a top notch, pro lens! Trust me, it's a classic Nikon. Don't spend $1,200 or $1,800 for either of the newer mid-range Nikon's! Get a 35-70mm f/2.8 & don't look back.

At $350 (USD) brand new, the quality of this lens is as good as almost any Nikkor lens you will find! The speed lens w/ a 1.4 f-stop makes it a great for indoor or nighttime photos. I highly recommend it if you shoot concert photography like me!
