A reasonable first DSLR for the serious hobbyist. A D60 or D40 would do too, but I want the remote viewing, control and capture capability of the wireless adapter. This is an useful feature for microscope-mounted cameras.

Expensive!! But still less than the competition (compare Cannon's). Allows remote viewing, control and download with the D300. Siblings of this are available for the D2 series too.

This is a good one for general purpose use (surely you don't want to keep the camera tethered to the microscope always now, would you?).

Added to any lens, particularly the 105 mm micro, this tele-converter offers a superb 2x magnification with good working distance. Of course, many settings have to be done manually.
