Buy new: $839.95 / Used from: $650.00
A significant upgrade to the 30D, with some impressive technology trickling down from the top of the line, better weather sealing, faster processing, etc. If you didn't want this camera, you wouldn't be looking at this list . . .

Stunning focus, beautiful "bokeh" (the background blur in which the subject stands out so well), very fast focusing. Heavy for holding, but a flash handle, monopod, or tripod cure that.

The perfect complement to the 70-200. Team photos, wider views of the whole play, etc. Also a great portrait lens for weddings and other events where you are generally closer to your subject.

No particular attachment to this make/model (search for "flash bracket" or "flash grip" for other choices) What you really want is a sturdy handle that connects to the tripod mount on the 70-200 lens so that you can walk around without always needing a tripod or monopod.
Kenko Teleplus PRO 300 DG AF 1.4x Teleconverter for Canon EOSKenko Teleplus PRO 300 DG AF 1.4x Teleconverter for Canon EOS
Buy new: $175.74 / Used from: $165.00
The Kenko is well made, the Canon is almost $100 more. You lose one f-stop, but get much closer without sacrificing much clarity. Autofocus works with this converter (but typically not with the 3x version below).
Kenko Teleplus PRO 300 - Converter - Canon EFKenko Teleplus PRO 300 - Converter - Canon EF
Buy new: $192.70
Kenko's 3x version makes your 200mm zoom, in strong daylight, like a 600mm lens (or with the 1.4x converter, a 840mm lens). Not as sharp focus as a real 600mm Canon L lens, but that lens, at f/4, costs $7,000, so the teleconverters make sense for me. This will cut available light by 8x (3 fstops), but you can capture faces on the other side of the field, which is pretty cool.

The one-handed operation of this model is really helpful. You probably want a tilt/swivel head mounted on top.

for the monopod. Easy to switch from portrait to landscape.

Much bigger than most "Holster" bags, but big enough for when the 70-200 is attached. Lots of convenient little storage for spare batteries, CF cards, polarizers, etc. Some people prefer a backpack, or a small duffle with all the dividers. This can be worn around your waist on a belt, or easily slung over your shoulder.
