![]() | Nikon D80 10.2MP Digital SLR Camera (Body only)
Buy new: Too low to display / Used from: $510.00 I know, there are fancy cameras out there that have more megapixels, more do-hickeys and more everything. BUT, you have to match the tool to the job. They are cost effective, will take older style lenses and generally just get the job done. Buy two of them. You need to have a backup camera. Make sure you sync the clocks!

![]() | Nikon 70-200mm f/2.8G ED-IF AF-S VR Zoom Nikkor Lens for Nikon Digital SLR Cameras
Buy new: $1,999.00 A long lens with some kind of vibration reduction is essential. Weddings always occur in poorly lit or weirdly lit churches, halls and other venues. The long focal length and fast f2.8 helps blur backgrounds and flatten the image. A very handy lens.

![]() | Nikon 50mm f/1.8D AF Nikkor Lens for Nikon Digital SLR Cameras
Buy new: Too low to display / Used from: $120.00 I've worked with both the 1.4 and the 1.8 and I can't see any reason to pay the extra money for the 1.4. On a D80, a 50mm lens will get you to about 75mm. Its a good all-around lens. Fast, good focal length, compact and very cost effective. When I shoot a wedding I have two cameras, one has a 70-200 on it, the other has a 50mm 1.8.

![]() | Nikon 24-120mm f/3.5-5.6G ED IF Autofocus VR Nikkor Zoom Lens
Buy new: $509.88 / Used from: $395.00 This was the first VR lens I bought. If I use this, it is when I am taking formals. Allows for easy re-composing of shots. Since I try and get three different sets of each grouping (full length, 3/4 crop and just faces), I can do this very quickly. Its not a bad candid lens either.

![]() | Sigma 15mm f/2.8 EX DG Diagonal Fisheye Lens for Nikon SLR Cameras
Buy new: $609.00 / Used from: $619.48 This is as wide as I go. I tend to not use it all that much. In fact, I only use it when I think: "you know, I have the 15mm, I should use it more." Now other photographers will tell you that wide is the only way to go. All a matter of style. It is useful for taking shots of the whole inside of a church- usually from a balcony.

Buy new: $32.95 Keep your sensor clean. It will make your job much easier.

![]() | Eva-dry Renewable EDV-300/E-333 Wireless Mini Dehumidifer
Buy new: $15.22 There is no reason to carry this in your bag while you are shooting a wedding, but once you get home and you put the bag on the shelf, throw this guy in there to keep moisture at bay.

![]() | Retail Packing Kingston Class 4 SDHC High Secure Digital SD Memory Card - 4GB (SD4/4GB)
Buy new: $19.99 I usually take about 20GB of SD cards with me. Do I shoot that much - no, not really. A typical wedding I will shoot about 12 gigs. But Im a big believers in having backups and you just never know, you might be on a roll and will fill 20gbs.

![]() | Wolverine Data 7080 FlashPac 80 GB Portable Digital Pictures and Data Storage
Buy new: $129.99 Cheap, easy . . .everything I want in a backup system. Once I fill an SD card, the lock is engaged on the card and it goes into my wolverine. Now the transfer rate on this thing is not the fastest by any means, but I haven't had this be a problem yet. Once I fill a card, lock it and start the transfer, the whole thing goes in my bag and just does its thing while I work on filling the next card.

![]() | Nikon SB-600 Speedlight Flash for Nikon Digital SLR Cameras
Buy new: $174.95 / Used from: $183.00 I have three of these with me all the time. Why? They work well. When I am photographing the group shots I put two of them on light stands with umbrellas. They are triggered with PocketWizards. NOTE: you cannot hook a Pocket Wizard directly up to a SB-600 you need a hotshoe adapter. You can to have a way to attach your flash to the stand anyway, just make sure it has a PC port on it.

![]() | PocketWizard PWP-TR 801-125 PLUS II Transceiver (Black)
Buy new: $188.00 I have three of these. One for the camera, one for each of the strobes on light stands. Every time you get press the shutter the flash will fire. This was not the case with my cheapo gagdge infinity triggers. I found them to be unreliable. Though PW's are expensive for what they do. I just need them to work. Nothing worse than looking stupid to a whole family because your trigger won't fire.
