Your D300 deserves a better strap1
OP/TECH 37012 Pro Loop Strap for Camera Equipment (Black)

If you are interested in getting one of this, I suggest you look for something else. The strap is hard, inflexible, straining, and it is only a long loop strap.

I strongly suggest you to check it out the loop strap by Op/Tech. Which is cheaper, and better quality. here's some reasons:

- Op/Tech strap is soft & light, flexibility is not a problem, you freely move your strap around without worrying about adjusting your strap and comfortable. Nikon's strap is hard, inflexible. you often ned to readjust the strap, very annoying and uncomfortable.

- Op/Tech strap has thick but flexible rubber, act as a neck support, weight distribution, "suspension" or shock absorber. You will feel very comfortable even after long hour of hanging it on your neck. Nikon's strap is hardly bendable and inflexible, just a plain strap. Your neck will feel very uncomfortable (sweaty, reddish, strain marks, painful, etcs... trust me, your neck will complain).

last but not least...
- Op/Tech strap is a convertable strap. You can easily convert it from a neck strap to the shorter wrist strap in just a few seconds. For Nikon, you are fixed with neck strap only.

Why pay more for a low quality strap? Get the Op/Tech which is better quality and cheaper too!

Good enough4
This strap shipped with my D300. It is relatively wide, but has no locks to detatch it easily from the camera. It will do the job, but an upgrade to a wider strap with a snap lock and pockets should be considered. After all, the D300 is a relatively heavy camera.
