Product Description

Whether you're splashing around in the backyard pool, snorkeling in the tropics or careening over whitewater rapids, keeping your waterproof digital camera secure can be a big hassle. And if you happen to drop it in the water (especially in natural environments), it's quite possible you've seen the last of your camera and all the memories contained within. But with this floating camera strap from Olympus, you can rest easy knowing that your expensive camera will stay afloat no matter how many times you let it slip away! Designed for use with the Olympus Stylus SW (Shockproof & Waterproof) series of digital cameras -- although it can be used with nearly any compact waterproof camera -- this strap is constructed of tough nylon, buoyant foam and durable plastic. A quick release snap at the end of the strap makes it simple to remove and reattach, and the bright red exterior material makes this strap easy to spot when floating in the water. Plus, the strap is adjustable to provide an additional measure of security. Your photos are precious... keep them afloat with the Olympus Floating Strap!

A must if you're going to use your olympus in the water!5
My husband and I bought this for our Olympus 770SW for our honeymoon to Hawaii. This floating strap was fabulous. If you let go of the camera in the water it will float with this strap attached! The fit is weird b/c it doesn't tighten around your wrist, but will tighten around your bicep, which is a much more comfortable position for swimming. You just have to slide it down to take pictures. I highly recommend this product if you will be taking your camera in the water (or a boat for that matter, if dropped off the boat, it floats and can be recovered).

YES it floats!...however, loose around the wrist!4
I own a Stylus 790 SW camera and wanted to make sure I didn't accidentally drop my camera into the deep abyss of the sea on my outings.

This product does what it says it does and keeps my camera safe on the surface.

However, do note that if your wrist is smaller than 9.5-10 inches 'round you will NOT be able to get a tight fit around your wrist to keep it securely attached to you. It's not a big deal though, there are other methods you can use to secure it...but it would be a lot cooler if you could!

Poor Float, Oversized Opening1
I'm not sure which camera other people are using this for as they seem to have had better results, but when hooked up to my Olympus 1030SW it is barely able to float the camera. As a matter of fact with any amount of turbulence in the water the "hi-viz" red strap barely breaks the surface.
I suppose maybe this thing is good for the pool? But then again why would you really need it there?
As it says on the Olympus website with regards to the product it only provides "gentle positive buoyancy" and in my case it was barely positive buoyancy.
If you do purchase this I would be sure to test out it's reliability with your specific camera first, as once my camera was knocked out of the Olympus Neoprene Armband by a wave it was never to resurface again. By the way the armband is junk as well.
Also I agree with everyones else with regard to the size of the opening, a very large hole that even when fully tightened doesn't close enough to stay securely on your wrist.
Lastly it would be really useful if they included a normal lanyard that can attach to the same quick release as the "floating" one so that when you are not using the "floating" one you can just clip a normal one in, and not have to bother with unlooping and relooping each time you take it off.
