Honestly, I was a little apprehensive regarding purchasing this over the more expensive Canon product. But, as soon as it arrived and I put it on my 28-135mm lens, my worries were gone. It fits my lens to the "T" and is constructed of quality, sturdy plastic.
Yes you can spend a little more for the Canon hood (thanks for not including them with your lenses by the way), or you can save a little cash, and get this one that does the EXACT same job. Your choice. I know for me, every dollar that I save on one piece of camera gear, goes right into the pot for my next purchase. Saving money is a good thing, and you can't go wrong with this hood from Precision Design

It's plastic, made well.

Most importantly it will attach with the lens cover on the lens. And when attached the lens cover can be removed without removing the lens shade.

I purchased this hood and found it to be well constructed and design like the Canon brand. Other than it stating on the Hood, "Designed for Canon". Rather than, Made by Canon, I found no significent difference in look or funtion. I am looking forward to using other products by Precision Design as their line of products are well constructed and funtion as well as the name brands of the equipment that they are intended to be used on.
