The Nikkor 28-80mm f/3.5-5.6D AF Zoom Lens is a compact and lightweight wide-angle to portrait zoom lens that is ideal for travel, landscapes, and general family photography... a perfect "all-around" lens. To take full advantage of the features found on Nikon's newer SLR (35mm and Digital), distance information used for 3D Matrix Metering or the 3D Multi-Sensor Balanced Fill-Flash is transmitted from the lens to the camera body for precise flash exposure control and aperture control. The 28-80mm D includes an aperture ring on the barrel (compared to the nikon "g" series) for additional control. This lens also offers superior optical performance through use of an aspherical lens element to minimize "barrel distortion", otherwise often seen in wider-angle shots.
