Customer Reviews
Great ad-on to my D90, ok quality. Beware of third party batteries when using on D90
I have the D90 and decided to buy the MB-D80 for it and I just love it! It makes the camera look professional! However, my first impression when I took it out of the box was that it felt cheap and generic. It felt like it was an aftermarket product! (oh well, I guess all products are made of plastic these days) But, after using it for 2 weeks you get use to it and functions as described. This item ads about 1/3 to the size of the camera, so if you travel a lot and like to pack light, I would recommend you get extra batteries*** instead of it. The camera functions the same for me with or without it (it even works with 1 battery), but if you'd shoot vertical most of the time, this makes it easier (it has an additional shutter and the 2 rotating wheels on the right side). So, in conclusion I would give it 3 stars because it's mostly plastic and feels generic.
***D90 USERS, BE AWARE OF GENERIC EN-EL3E BATTERIES, I PURCHASE 2 (NOV 2008) AND BOTH DIDN'T WORK, EVEN WITH A FULL CHARGE (D80 works with generic but not the new D90). (They may resolve it in the future, but for now stick with Nikon or AA batteries).
Adds a good balance
I think this helps with the balance of the camera. Not to mention I now have a place for my little finger. I have good size hands and the D90 is smaller than I thought it would be. Not only the added grip is great but the extra battery life and ability to take vertical shots. I had a grip for my D100 so this was an easy call for the D90.
Battery Drip Nikon D80
It is good and adds up your shooting time. the adjustment for shutter and aperture is within you reach. just flip the switch there you have it.
