Customer Reviews
Got what I paid for. . .
I knew the chance I was taking when I purchased this item. I knew people had experienced some problems with it but the majority of reviews were good. So I decided to give it a try. I should have known better.
The first time I tried to take a shot the camera just died like the plug was pulled.
I thought.. . "Huh, maybe my batteries were dead. . ." Then I remembered, "Noooo. . just charged them (they were both canon batteries)."
It took me 5 minutes to get the camera to power back up with the grip on. So a little experimenting led me to discover that the battery compartment does not fit snugly into the holster and if it moves even a little bit the grip looses contact with it and the camera looses all power. Peace of c. ..
So now I'll have to pack back up the batteries it came with and pack back up the grip and somehow convince the company I bought it from to give me a refund. Considering how long it took for them to remember to send the grip out to me to begin with I'm not expecting this to be a fast process.
So for anyone who is considering this. . proceed with caution. And don't be surprised if you are the next review saying "I should have known better".
I'll stick with Canon from now on. I WAS warned.
Cheap and High Quality
Functions exactly the same as the Canon OEM grip, but it is slightly noticable that it is not as high quality as the OEM. This doesn't mean it doesn't work as needed, the shutter button is a little softer than the OEM grip trigger, but works fine. Brilliant product for the price and extra batteries!
A good alternative to the Canon BGE3
I've holded off my own review because I wanted to test it out first.
After testing it for 3 weeks, I would have to say its a pretty good product for its price.
- The battery that comes with it are 2x900mAh making it a total of 1800mAh.
- Using just 1 battery to power the camera and grip is similar to the original battery. 300-400 shots. It's not the flimsy battery unlike the first one that's included.
- The Grip feels nice. There was a small part of the rubber in the grip that was not sticking properly but it was easily fixed.
- The Dial and the shutter button does feel different than the one in the camera BUT it hasn't stopped me from taking pictures. There is still a distinct feel when you have focus locked.
- The delivery was good enough it arrived on the monday after july 4. It was supposed to arrive in july 4 but that's a holiday.
Overall - If you're in a tight budget this is a good deal for hobbyists.
