Canon Battery grip for 5D
Works as I would expect. Went with Canon brand BG instead of aftermarket (as I did for my 10D). Amazon price actually was best price that's why I bought it here. If you own a 5D you need this, plus with the AA adapter and a set of AA's (I carry NiMH) in your bag you never have to worry about lost production time away from home.
It works since it was designed to !
What can I say, works great like it was designed to. Can't compare to the generic units out there but why would you skimp on a battery grip when you just spent $2500 on a camera like the 5d at the risk of a generic grip shorting out your camera and Canon won't warrant it.
A bit expensive, but I would purchase again
I'm very happy with the battery grip so far. The vertical shutter release is great, and the extra battery time is remarkable. I keep looking down at the indicator and am always surprised to see so much battery life left. The price is expensive, that's really the only drawback, but I leave it on the camera full time and the value that I get for the work I do is worth the price. The grip definitely adds weight, although if battery life is not your primary concern, you could run with only one battery. The largest value in the grip to me is the vertical shutter release, which keeps my right hand in natural position. That's why I purchased it in the first place. Battery life was my second concern.
