Manufacturer Description
Retaining all the features of the 055MF3, the Bogen-Manfrotto 055MF4 is a more compact tripod geared to the traveling photographer. The 055MF4 folds to just a shade over 21 inches yet extends to just under 5.5 feet. Light, simple, strong, and extremely versatile to position, the 055MF4 will comfortably support up to 15 pounds and offers a minimum height of only 4.3 inches for low-angle shooting.

Without compromising on stability or rigidity of the tripod, Manfrotto engineers reduced the weight of the 055MF4 by utilizing carbon fiber legs with quick action lever locks in magnesium and resin. In addition, they incorporated the patented design of the 3021PRO series top spider which offers four leg angle settings, and converts the center column into a lateral arm.

The center column itself is of the latest generation of aluminum and resin materials. The low-angle adapter forms the top section of the center column and is easily detached by simply unscrewing the knob at the bottom of the column. This enables the head to be left mounted on the center column when switching between low-angle and normal shooting positions.

All parts are assembled using a proven pressure clamp technology for greater durability and in-the-field serviceability. To make transportation even easier, the 055MF4 is supplied with a hand padded carrying strap that can also double as a hook to hang weight and increase stability during extreme wind conditions.

Features include:

  • Carbon Fiber three-faced tubes for the tripod legs
  • Aluminum and nylon polymer center column
  • Magnesium die casting for all tripod parts and stainless steel nuts and bolts
  • Ergonomic, user friendly features such as quick-action adjustable leg lever locks that instantly secure leg extensions firmly in place with no slippage or rotation
  • Push buttons to operate leg angles to offer four degrees of inclination
  • Center column with vertical/horizontal positioning
  • Built-in low angle adapter

What's in the Box:
Included carrying handle makes the tripod more comfortable to transport and stays conveniently and unobtrusively attached during use.

Great tripod4
Great tripod, built to last, only issue is the handle is too short to put it over your back

I Love this5
I got this tripod 2 weeks ago and I love it. Very light weight. I used lots of tripod in my professional and I have to say that I never see like this, I've been using everywhere I go. The lateral arm is very usefull if you are taking pictures small items.(like jewel)

I am very happy to buy this.

Pretty Good4
This is the third tripod I have tried. I really wanted something a little lighter that the 4.4lbs of this unit, but I compromised because I wanted to the flip lever leg locks. I tried an aluminum Manfrotto that was similar to this model, but it was too heavy. I then tried a SLIK 814 CFII and if it had not been for the pain in setting it up and taking it down I would have kept it. If SLIK made a model with lever locks I would be all over that. I would happily shell out the higher $$ for a Gitzo as well if they had lever locks on the legs. I will probably end up buying a monopod as well for travel as I don't see it being very practical to haul this one around. All of that said, this is a fine unit that sets up quickly, is sturdy, lighter than aluminum and has the added bonus of a spirit level. I would recommend this unit to others who feel the same way I do about twist to lock tripod legs.
