The 10 to 20 millimeters f4 to 5.6 EX DC HSM lens allows enjoyment of super wide-angle photography and it is a very powerful tool for indoor shooting and landscape photography with APS-C size image sensors of digital SLR cameras.

Wide angle of view (102.4 degrees at 10 millimeters and 63.8 degrees at 20 millimeters) offers the photographer greater freedom of expression.

Three SLD glass elements are employed for effective compensation of color aberration, which is a common problem with super-wide angle lenses. One piece of glass mold and two hybrid aspherical lenses, offer excellent correction for distortion, as well as all types of aberration.

This lens is equipped with an inner focusing system, and the models which are equipped with HSM system provide quiet, high speed autofocus shooting and also offer full time manual focusing. It has a minimum focusing distance of 24 centimeters (9.4 inches) at all focal lengths. The non-rotating lens barrel perfectly suits the petal shaped lens hood. Good and bad
I actually dont like landscapes at 10mm. The distortion at this length makes the center of the frame so distant that it seems too far away. That being said, some people like this style. I still prefer 14-18mm on a DX body, which brings other lenses into the equation.

You can, however, get some neat angles on up close subjects at 10mm which is fun. Also, the image quality of this Sigma is pretty good as well (a bit soft outside of center focus though).

great lens half for the price
Was always NIKON only,until I needed a wide angle zoom lens for my D40. Thats when I found SIGMA. The 10-20mm is great lens at half the price of the NIKON 12-24mm. Tried both lenses before buying the Sigma. It is clear, sharp, and well built. The HSM works great on my D40 & D60. For extreme wide angle and landscape its great -no problems.

Good motion, solid construction, vignetting at 10mm, list of hyperfocal distances.
I've been using this lens for a few months without any major complaints. It can evidence vignetting at 10mm, which becomes more pronounced when you add a 77mm polarizing filter. The physical motion is superb and it's a solid lens. It's missing obvious hyperfocal markings, but you can use the focal length and distance marks to get accurate hyperfocus anyways. I hope this helps others who use this lens.
