close up lenses are okay for a few things
I have no particular fault with these lenses. I think Hoya makes quality stuff at a halfway decent price, which is hard to find these days. But, you can't expect more from a close up lens than it can give you: extremely shallow depth-of-field, almost no ability to focus your lens (except by moving it closer or further away). The results can be okay.
