Ray Charles's entry in Rhino's Love Songs series--joining volumes by Aretha Franklin and Otis Redding--is as stellar and idiosyncratic as the man himself. It collects recordings from the '50s to the '90s, with slyly offbeat choices such as "Gee, Baby Ain't I Good to You" and Charles's transformation of "Till There Was You" alongside signature tracks such as "Georgia on My Mind," "I Can't Stop Loving You," and "Come Rain or Come Shine." --Rickey Wright

Love Songs-Ray Charles
I bought this CD specifically for the song: "A Song For You". All of Ray Charles` works are brilliant, Duh. But A Song For You is a beautiful, haunting melody that really touched me the first time I heard it. It sounds as though Charles had fun playing it, and interestingly enough, this song isn`t on any other CD I could find. I had thought that this song would be wildly popular, and available on many Charles CD`s, but, alas, no. Again, interestingly, not many people I played it for had ever heard it. What a shame, because this song is gorgeous, and is exactly the way I like to remember Ray Charles; sweet, haunting, and brilliant.
Fine collection of Brother Ray's best
If you love Ray,you will most certainly love this CD.Lots of his finest efforts to soothe and relax you.No manner how many times I have heard"Georgia on My Mind," I get a lump in my throat. The label "Genius" was deservedly bestowed on this most wonderful man.
20th century, 21st century...whatever...it's the voice!...
...mr. charles is a baaad man!...his sound/his voice is magnificent...the government should mandate a law forcing all radio stations to start their day off with at least one brother ray song...very soulful indeed...
(now his backup singers on here are very quite corny at times...somebody shoulda amped their mics down!)
this may not be the disc to start your collection with, but if you love some ol' bluesy/jazzy-lounge love songs, then get this and go with it!
