Customer Reviews
Most complete and accurate Rebel XS Guide
My whole family recently made the transition to Canon from another brand, and I'm glad that this author's books were available to help us. I was so pleased with Busch's guide to the Canon EOS 50D that I purchased this one at the same time my wife picked up her Rebel XS. It has the same kind of in-depth coverage of the camera I found in the 50D book, arranged in a way that won't confuse a beginner. Yet, there is enough meat here that as you learn you'll continually find new techniques and information to help you grow photographically.
Simply put, this book has roughly twice as much useful information as the other XS books I looked at. The compact guides do a good job of explaining the different features and controls, but this one does it better, with lots of tips on why and when you should use a particular setting. When my wife and I upgrade to our next cameras in a year or three, we'll do it with confidence as long as Busch's guides are there to show us the way.
Great information for the Canon XS Rebel
After trying to read the manual that came with my new Canon Rebel XS camera - I saw the book written by David Busch on the Digital XS Rebel. I can honestly say that after going through this book - with my new camera in hand - I totally understand 95% of the camera's functions. The other 5% was dealing with
electronic flash and a few items that I probably will never use on my camera - that being said - I still have that information available to me in his book if I ever choose to deal with those items. The road map - which he provides is excellent in the way that every button on the camera is explained to it fullest without confusing you as to their actions - as most buttons have two to three or more functions. My only regret is the fact that the book is not small enough to put in my camera bag for use when I am out there taking photographs. Thanks David for such a detailed and specific book written just for the Canon Rebel XS camera.
Well Written
I couldn't decide between this one and the one for Dummies, so I got both. The explanations are clearer and it's easier on the eyes. Both are very good. The best one, though, isThe Canon EOS Digital Rebel XS/1000D Companion. That one just clicked for me, and if you are only looking for one, that would be my choice for the most useful.
