A great lens to have, instead of the 24-70, since covers much, much more wide-angle. Can be retained for dual purpose, giving even better wide-angle, when crops move towards *1*. The downside - variable aperture, not as sharp as 24-70 f/2.8.

Buy new: $114.95 This is a must, with an effective crop-factor of 1.6, this becomes a great portrait lens to have, it's also dirt cheap. 2nd.: the idea is to have double possibility, since sooner or later the effective crop-range will move towards 1. Then, ask anyone, it's always important to have a 50 mm. in the kit. Primes are ALWAYS better than the zoom.
