Good protection for your expensive camera
I bought my Canon XTI and looked for simple add-ons. After reading the comments on this armor, I knew I had to use it. I only took the camera out once to test it out before putting it back in the box until the armor arrived.

The armor was quite a pain in the butt to put on, I won't lie about that. There was a time I thought I was actually scratching/scuffing the camera with the tension from the rubber. I was a little reluctant to continue in fear of ruining the camera. Eventually it got on and the buttons lined up just fine.

The only issue I have with the operation of the camera with the armor is the battery slot. It always gets stuck on the armor- ALWAYS, and you have to manually pry out the battery covering each time.

As for protection- you're right to assume it won't save your precious camera if you drop it. What it does do is protects it against scratches and scuffs (and it does this very, very well!). The only scuffs I have on the entire camera are on the bottom near the tripod connection. The rest is absolutely perfect! And it's all because of the armor, I know it. I love to walk through the woods and get smacked with branches and cob webs and every thing, and it's really nice to know the camera will be fine at the end of the outting.

The only other reason this is a 4/5 other than the battery problem is the plastic LCD cover seems to get a lot of dirt behind it and you have to take off the armor quite often to clean it out. You also have to clean the rubber armor a lot as it seems to attract all the dirt and grime in a 3,000 mile radius.

I have never regretted this purchase and I promise you won't either. Protect your money, use this armor!

Great, Convenient Protection
I have the camera armor on my Canon Rebel Xti with 17-85mm lens. This works great in our household with two small children. I usually leave the camera sitting on the counter within easy reach for quick shots. Did not buy a case at all and so far the armor meets my needs. Don't have to worry about setting the camera down too quickly on a hard surface because the rubber absorbs the shock. The rubber around the lens does the same trick (remember to slide it all the way down to the non forward moving part of the lens which would be the manual focusing ring). Read past reviews about lint and dirt getting on the armor and also about the flash not popping up--I haven't had either of these problems yet. Every control is still easily accessible. Don't have to worry about scratching the LCD because a hard clear plastic cover is included. Also, the rubber buttons are still labeled with their functions just like the camera. The lens rubber ring comes with a lanyard with a rubber piece that sticks to the lens cover. The cover fell off after two weeks so I superglued the rubber end of the lanyard to the cover.

This is a great investment for protecting your expensive piece of delicate equipment without having to pull it out of a camera bag every time you want to use it. No complaints.

Great product for ruggedizing the XTi
Outstanding protective skin for the camera, and LCD protection for the back; I shoot almost exclusively on rough terrain trails at 4x4 events, and the camera is exposed to dust, dirt, and occassional drops or bumps - the armor is exceellent. Easy to install and remove for cleaning purposes, with the only hassle being that you have to remove the strap first.

As others have stated, the lens armor is ridiculous and useless - it gets in the way, attracts dust, and doesn't offer any significant protection -- get a regular hood and throw that rubber thing away.
